Guide - lighting control
All about lighting for your event
Often relegated to second place after decoration, successful lighting can actually transform your event. Lighting is essential to create an atmosphere and, if perfectly controlled, can highlight the beauty of a place or highlight a speaker. We explain why and how.
1 / The different types of lighting
There are many different types of lighting for events. To help you understand, we explain the main types of lighting and when to use them.
- Classic spotlighting that hangs on the structure and gives off white light: Efficient and practical, this type of lighting guarantees very good luminosity.
We recommend it for lighting catering facilities or other technical structures.
- Ambient spotlighting: Generally placed on the ground or at the foot of the tent poles, these spotlights diffuse an "amber" light, immediately creating a warm and cosy atmosphere.
Where: Ideal for weddings, cocktail parties or inaugurations.
- Stand-alone spotlighting without connection: More elegant, this lighting allows you to illuminate a tent without the need for cables.
Where: Perfect for all occasions, but especially useful when you rent a structure without a floor, as the floor is used to hide the connections. We also recommend this option if you want to place spotlights at the base of your tent poles, which will prevent cables from running everywhere.
- Garlands: Also considered a decorative element, garlands add a touch of charm with a "guinguette" spirit. You can also use different coloured filters depending on your wishes.
Where: They are perfect as accent lighting for weddings with a country, bohemian, romantic or bucolic spirit...
- Specific lighting: Finally, there is more specific lighting for very specific needs. For example, if you wish to transform the wedding dinner room into a dance floor, there is nothing like a light bridge made up of a prolyte and spotlights. With this type of lighting, the spots can be animated, change colour or even direction. A stage manager remains on site during the event to take care of the lights and make them evolve during the evening according to the desired atmosphere. Alternatively, you can rely on light shows like the silhouette tent below!

2 / And there was light!
Far from being the focus of attention, lighting is nevertheless essential. Chandeliers, garlands, spotlights... When night falls, plunging your event into darkness, it is they that will set the tone by sublimating a decor, highlighting a brand's identity, guiding guests to a venue or even warming the atmosphere on a dance floor.
Before embarking on the design of a venue and choosing the lighting, it is nevertheless essential to define the atmosphere you want beforehand. Depending on the nature of the event, the type of lighting will not be the same. For example, for a successful dance party, we recommend LED spotlights that change colour to create a dynamic atmosphere, whereas for an outdoor cocktail party, we recommend a garland for a country touch.
Next, it is important to determine which elements you want to highlight. If speeches are planned during the evening, you can, for example, choose to highlight the speakers with a spotlight. Another alternative is to highlight the beauty of a place with lighting: the wooden poles of a Bamboo tent, the trees of an estate, the architecture of a castle, the transparent canvas of a Cristal tent... Finally, you can also decide to stage the furniture and decoration, for example by placing spotlights in the bar, thus giving it a spectacular and elegant appearance.
